Geothermal Pros and Cons

Advantages –
Much more efficient; about 300-500% more efficient. You can save 35-60% on heating costs, and 25-50% on cooling costs. They are also extremely environmentally friendly, and nearly emission free. Highly reliable and low maintenance and are overall much less noisy.

Disadvantages – Much higher upfront cost, however this can pay off in 5-10 years because of the efficiency. These are much more suitable for newly built homes. Since it’s a new technology much less HVAC technicians know how to install and repair geothermal units.
